Uncle Louie G - scooponcones.com
This is a nice place to take the kids: a walk-up window that serves a myriad of ice cream and italian ice flavors, from Holi Cannoli to Coney Island Candy. We like the names, but the ice cream was pretty pedestrian. The flavors in the Soprano Spumoni (chocolate, pistachio and cremetta) didn’t blend well, and it had the consistency of your basic grocery store variety.
The NYPD Blue Italian ice tasted like an Icee without the fizz, and we did enjoy the blue tongue stain:)
Uncle Louie G was inspired by the store’s namesake, who was making ice cream and ices in Brooklyn back in 1959. Now the franchise has more than 30 stores in eight states. We visited the shop on Union Street in Park Slope.
