The Lemon Ice King of Corona - scooponcones.com
This is probably the best-known Italian ice joint in the City, advertising 25 flavors and ices with real pieces of fruit.
Actually, the walk-up counter offers more than 25 flavors, including peanut butter and rum raisin, but the tangerine we sampled had no fruit pieces inside. It tasted a lot like those popsicles that are frozen in plastic, but poses an even greater hazard of a cold headache.
For those who have never had an Italian ice, they closely resemble a snow cone, but the ice is more finely ground. This shop has been in Corona for more than 60 years, according to its website.
Although the ices are cold and refreshing, we’re not really sure we get the allure. Then again, for a $1.50 for a small cup, we’re not going to be too critical. Long live the king!
