The General Greene - scooponcones.com
The ice cream cart outside The General Greene restaurant is worth making a trip to Fort Greene for if you don’t live nearby. It sells “Philly Style” ice cream, which is made without eggs. But the draw is the creative and well-executed flavors.
The Dark Chocolate Mint is absolutely incredible. It has a dark chocolate base, with a light, herbal mint that tastes like it was just snipped from the garden. The result is rich and refreshing.
Also amazing is the Salted Carmel Pretzel flavor. It is our favorite of all carmel ice creams. They mix in broken pretzel pieces right before serving, preserving crunchiness. But the texture was a little icy, a problem we didn’t notice in the other flavors.
We also loved the Lemon Basil Frozen Yogurt, the tartness of the yogurt is a perfect base for the lemon and basil.
Compared to the others we tried, the Green Tea Pistachio was a little blase. But our only real criticism is that they ran out of spoons.
