The Chocolate Room in Park Slope offers a great atmosphere. It has marble tables, flattering lighting and a cute little bar in the back. The ice cream also puts on quite a display, in parfait glasses with paper doilies underneath.

But the ice cream and sorbet are inconsistent: The strawberry ice cream was jammy and lovely; the valrhona sorbet had a nice cocoa taste but a disappointing icy texture; and the mint chip was just plain surprising. It was a spearmint that tasted like the herb picked from the garden. Totally refreshing, but not at all creamy.

Maybe she was just having a bad day, but our waitress was pretty slow and totally forgot our order, despite writing it down.
