The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck - scooponcones.com
Sure it’s a gimmick, but we love it. This is a regular old ice cream truck, with a sign of a rainbow ice cream cone hung on the side, that offers really unique toppings -- think bacon, cayenne, wasabi pea dust, Trix cereal, and blueberries in soba.
We tried The Salty Pimp, which is a vanilla cone with dulce de leche, sea salt and a chocolate dip. It’s delicious. We wouldn’t say that we want to whore ourselves out and give the cone all our money, but it’s close.
Our tasters also sampled the Coco Cone, a vanilla cone dipped in toasted coconut flakes with a dusting of curry. Not an intuitive flavor combination, but we like it.
Another crowd pleaser is the Bea Arthur, a vanilla cone dipped in Nilla wavers and drizzled with dulce de leche. Truly a cone worthy of Dorothy Zbornak.
Doug, the creative force and server, also sells all the regular ice cream truck fare: Cartwheels, sundaes, shakes, etc.
Part of the intrigue is the elusiveness: Follow @biggayicecream on Twitter to find where it’s parked.
