Sant Ambroeus - scooponcones.com
The West Village location is smaller and more intimate than the flagship restaurant on the Upper East Side, and it has a smaller selection of ice creams and sorbets (eight flavors). But it offers all the same fancy gelato deserts.
Tops on the list here is the Taglio al Limone, which is a lemon sorbet topped with prosecco. The lemon sorbet was nice, but let’s face it, once you drench it with prosecco, we stop caring about the details. It’s a sorbet-prosecco float!!
A similar desert with pear sorbet and Pear Willaims liquor (Coppa Paciugo) is a little strong until the sorbet has a chance to melt and get bubbly. The Coppa Prince Edwards is a hot fudge sundae, a really really good one.
A lot of the draw here is the atmosphere, from the paper doilies under the glass ice cream dishes, to the fancy wrapping for doggie bags. It’s a great place to take a date, or your parents, or have a relaxing break with the girls after shopping.
