Sant Ambroeus - scooponcones.com
Named for the patron saint of Milan, we were absolutely charmed by this Upper East Side cafe. It makes us feel like ladies who lunch on gelato.
Tops on the list here is the Taglio al Limone, which is a lemon sorbet topped with prosecco. The lemon sorbet was nice, but let’s face it, once you drench it with prosecco, we stop caring about the details. It’s a sorbet-prosecco float!!
A similar desert with pear sorbet and Pear Willaims liquor (Coppa Paciugo) is a little strong until the sorbet has a chance to melt and get bubbly. The Coppa Prince Edwards is a hot fudge sundae, a really really good one.
The gelato was also nice, particularly the coconut. The carmel and chocolate chip flavors were milder. This location has many more flavors than the West Village location.
A lot of the draw here is the atmosphere, from the paper doilies under the glass ice cream dishes, to the fancy wrapping for doggie bags. It’s a great place to take a date, or your parents, or have a relaxing break with the girls after shopping.
