These are not the popsicles of your childhood. At Popbar, the treats are more like gelato on a stick -- like an old-fashioned fudgesicle but even creamier. And then they are dipped like your favorite Dairy Queen cone. It’s non-traditional, but for us it’s a big win.

Popbar offers gelato (creamy) and sorbet (fruit) popsicles, with exciting flavors including Almond and Coconut.

The dips put them over the top: Chocoholics can choose from dark, milk, white, or dark chocolate, or a carmel dip.

A new Apricot sorbet flavor was introduced for the summer. We tried it with a dark chocolate dip and coconut toppings. It was light and refreshing, the perfect dessert on a hot summer night!

Popbar is on a busy corner for ice cream, with Grom just a few doors down and Cones about a block away. But we predict this newcomer will hold its own.

Hours: Noon-11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; Noon- 1 a.m. Friday-Saturday

Price: $4.50 for gelato popsicle; $3.75 for sorbet popsicle; 50 cents for unlimited dippings; 50 cents for unlimited toppings

Special diets: Kosher; gluten free
