What is a Bay-area transplant to do in New York when a craving for It’s It hits?
Head to Pacific Standard. This Park Slope bar special orders the delectable ice cream sandwiches on dry ice, and we were surprised at how well they held up after a cross-country trip.
A step back for the uninitiated (until recently, we were among them). There is a particular kind of ice cream sandwich that is a tradition in the San Francisco area called It’s-It, consisting of oatmeal cookies, a scoop of ice cream and a chocolate dip.
Although the ice cream comes in different flavors, Pacific Standard carries only the Mint. We will not complain, because it was pretty amazing. Something about the soft oatmeal cookie really pulls it together.
The chocolate dip does come apart a little bit, but that would probably happen even without the coast-to-coast journey.
We were also pleasantly surprised to see It’s It has a mere 340 calories. That’s less than one Starbucks cookie. A bit confusing, but we’ll take it.
