Italian ice lovers are rejoicing with the return of NYC Icy in the East Village. The store’s location in Hell’s Kitchen had a loyal following, but closed in 2008 due to lease issues. Now it’s back and kickin’ in the East Village.

The menu recently included Lemon Basil, Chinese Almond Cookie, Pumpkin Pie and Apricot Ginger, along with more traditional flavors.

We found the Lemon Basil (pictured) to be absolutely refreshing, with visible bits of chopped basil leaves. The Ginger was super spicy and packed a real punch.

They serve both traditional “Icy” and “Cream Icy,” which has a bit of dairy but not as much as ice cream.

We hear this Manhattan location is only here for six months, so hurry before it’s gone! Of course, NYC Icy also has a store in Brooklyn (905 Church Avenue).

Hours: Noon-1 a.m. daily, although closing times may vary. Open until Oct. 31.

Price: $2.50 small icy; $3 small cream icy; $0.25 extra for a cone

Special Diets: Icys are non-dairy
