Melt Bakery - scooponcones.com
Melt Bakery first caught our eye last year, when they brought two totally new ice cream conceptions to our world: One that incorporates baklava, the other inspired by happy hour with beer-flavored ice cream and salted peanut cookies.
In the last year they have really found their stride in cookie and ice cream pairings. We just tried the Cinnamix (pictured right) which combines snikerdoodles with Cinnamon ice cream. Fantastic. The cookies are dusted with cinnamon and sugar for a delectable sweet treat.
And we’ll be back soon to try the Lovelet, a red velvet whoopie pie with Cream Cheese ice cream. For a full list of their flavors, click here. They deliver!
As for those concoctions that we first loved: The Kareem uses a triangle of homemade baklava as the casing for Pistachio-Rose Water ice cream. Sticky, but worth it. The Bold ice cream sandwich is made with Guinness Stout ice cream and Salted Peanut Cookies. The ice cream delivers the beer flavor, it’s present but not overwhelming. And the Salted Peanut cookie was a nice pairing to keep with a bar food theme (perhaps a dip of pretzel peices would be a nice addition?)
Melt is at the Hester Street Fair on weekends and at the entrance to the Highline (at Gansevoort St.) Friday-Sunday. Watch for a storefront in the LES soon!
