You think gigantuous isn’t a word? That’s because you haven’t seen these ice cream sandwiches.

They are so big that there is no way to pick one up and take a bite that includes both top and bottom cookies. We resorted to using a spoon.

That’s not a complaint, for the record. The Meatball Shop has a fun menu that you mark with a pen — check of your choice of cookie and ice cream flavor to make a sandwich.

We have had mixed results. The Macaroon (pictured right) was beautiful and tasty but too frozen to eat. A  brownie/Blueberry ice cream combo was just about perfection. And a gingersnap/peanut butter/Espresso ice cream mix was yummy, but the ice cream had a texture that was a bit chalky.

All in all, we give them a thumbs up. And we’re excited to see The Meatball Shop is expanding! It’s opening stores in Williamsburg (170 Bedford Ave.) and West Village (64 Greenwhich Ave.).
