Sometimes all you need is love. And other times all you need is some gelato.

Love Gelato opened this spring in the Village, offering a wide selection of impressive gelatos.

On a recent visit we tried a flavor made out of mascarpone, Nutella and candied almonds that was really out of this world. The generous ribbons of Nutella made us swoon and the candied almonds gave a satisfying crunch to the mix.

We also like their candied chestnut flavor (Marron Glace), which was an unexpected delight.

The gelatos are made fresh daily at Love’s factory in Chelsea. It makes us happy to think of a Love factory:)

The downside for this place is that they have entered a really competitive ice cream market. Just blocks away are several great ice cream and gelato stores that are something of New York institutions (see this map for details). Here’s hoping that Love can find a way!
