La Salle Ice Cream - scooponcones.com
The freezers at La Salle in Murray Hill are filled to impress. Each tub of ice cream, sorbet and gelato is positively overflowing in beautiful, bulbous shapes.
One that really stands out is the chocolate sorbet. It looks like fudge, and has the smooth texture, too. It’s amazing and rich.
The gelatos are also great, we liked the zuppo (bright yellow color, tastes like eggnog), and the chocolate coconut. But you don’t have to take our word for it, the friendly staff hands out endless samples before you even ask.
On a recent visit we were blown over by the Peanut Butter gelato. It’s so rich and thick that it’s reminiscent of putting a spoon in the PB jar.
The interior of the store is kind of kitchy, and we don’t know if its intentional or whether they have a strange sense of style.
Not in Murray Hill? There’s also locations in Inwood and the Bronx.
