What you need:

A group of four to seven friends; about $35 (ask each person to bring $5-$10); copies of this map and pens to write notes; plenty of bottled water; and Wet Naps.

How it works:

Your group orders one dessert (and lots of spoons) at each stop  so everyone gets taste. Record your tasting notes and report back to scooponcones on which was your favorite. Tell us on Twitter using #icecreamcrawl and @scooponcones. Or post your comments on our reviews!

It’s best to go on a weekend to catch them all. Even so, these are mobile vendors so there’s no guarantee that each one will be at its regular spot.

Do your research:

*Van Leeuwen Artisanal Ice Cream: Ice cream truck that focuses on authentic flavors and ingredients

*Melt Bakery: Ice cream sandwiches that stand out with fantastic flavor combinations

People’s Pops: Ice pops with fresh, seasonal fruit and spice pairings

L’Art del Gelato: Freshly made gelato in traditional and creative flavors

La Newyorkina: Ice pops in Mexican-inspired flavors

Kelvin Natural Slush: All-natural slushes in pick-your-own flavor combinations

Coolhaus: Ice cream sandwiches in crazy cookie and ice cream flavors

* weekends only
