This adorable neighborhood cafe has about a dozen flavors of Hershey’s ice cream in a freezer display case. The chocolate ribbons in the Moose Tracks (peanut butter, brownie, fudge, in chocolate ice cream) teleported us back to childhood, cracking open a tin can of Hershey’s syrup by poking holes in the top with a bottle opener.

The ice cream here is not artisanal or international. It’s good old-fashioned American ice cream. And judging by gaggle of school girls who came by for cones when we visited, the locals appreciate that.

It’s a little run down, with the siding of the counters peeling a bit and an army of ants on the floor. We hope they discover Borax soon, but don’t think these problems detract from the overall charm.

Price: $2.25 one scoop

Special Diets: Offers limited low-fat and low-sugar flavors.
