If you didn’t know this place was vegan, the ice cream in this East Village shop would never tip you off. It is simply delicious, creamy and absolutely bursting with flavor. The Ginger Molasses tastes like gingerbread cookie dough, and the Cake Batter soft serve tastes like real cake batter, not batter-flavored ice cream. Amazing. The Coffee and Cookie flavor we sampled was one of the most satisfying scoops of ice cream we’ve ever had.
Taking a bite of this gelato is to realize what gelato is supposed to be like. It’s dense and bursting with flavor. The texture is beyond creamy and smooth. If you know someone who claims they don’t like gelato, this will change their minds.
This authentic Queens ice cream parlor first opened in 1909 and has preserved its old-time charm. Grab a seat at the counter and order a sundae with your choice of homemade ice cream flavors and real whipped cream on top.

Who conducted these reviews?
All of the reviews on scooponcones.com are completely independent. Founder Coralie Carlson personally sampled the ice cream (or other frozen dessert) at every location listed here. A team of more than a dozen collaborators were happy to provide a second opinion at various shops.
How did you choose which ice cream shops to review?
We have reviewed more than 80 ice cream and frozen dessert stores. Some we found online, but others were discovered through word of mouth or just from walking around the city. We focus on independent stores, so you won’t find many big chains here. More reviews are being added every week -- if you don’t see one of your favorite stores, tell us and we’ll check it out!
Who is sponsoring these reviews?
All of the samples were paid for by scooponcones.com. This is a labor of love by an ice cream aficionado, not a sales pitch. We pride ourselves in the objectivity of our reviews.
Can I only find ice cream here?
No -- we include reviews for ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt, and other frozen desserts including Italian ices, cholados and patsingbu.
