Epicerie Boulud - scooponcones.com
One of the newest gelato windows on the Upper West Side is the creative offering of Celebrity chef Daniel Boulud, who opened an eat-in and take-out cafe this spring.
Epicerie Boulud offers an eclectic mix of foods: some specialty groceries, sweets, espresso drinks, an oyster bar, and more.
The selection of gelatos is small but creative. On a recent visit, flavors included Hazelnut-Passionfruit Swirl and Raspberry-Litchi Swirl.
We sampled the Pistachio-Black Cherry Swirl and White MInt-Strawberry Swirl. The Pistachio was quite lovely, with the cherry adding a tart and unique twist on a gelato standby.
The White Mint Strawberry was not such a hit. The texture was quite icy and there weren’t enough strawberries. At best it tasted like Dentyne, at worst like toothpaste.
