Ciao Bella - scooponcones.com
This gelato shop in the food court of Grand Central station is one of four storefronts in the city for Ciao Bella, which was created in Little Italy in 1983 and is now widely available in grocery stores and restaurants.
We like the flavors, which include a yummy pistachio with big whole nuts, and a rich valrhona chocolate. On a recent visit, they totally blew our mind with a White Truffle gelato — that’s truffle as in mushroom. It had a big mushroomy taste that and a surprisingly sweet finish. For a less wacky option, the Maple-Gingersnap was totally satisfying.
But their gelato is a weird gooey consistency. It stretches between the bowl and spoon like melted mozzarella cheese.
Not in Grand Central? They also have shops in Nolita, the Upper East Side, and the World Financial Center.
