Caffe Dante - scooponcones.com
Nestled in the heart of Greenwich Village since 1915, Caffe Dante has an amazing selection of gelato desserts.
They include a lemon sorbet served in a hollowed-out lemon rind, a chocolate truffle with gelato, and several Coppi Gelati, in which several scoops of gelato are drowned in liquor.
The gelato is expensive, $7.75 for a plain scoop, so we’d recommend getting one of their fancier desserts for a better value: they range in price from $6.50 to $9.
The affogato (three scoops of gelato topped with a shot of espresso) was delightful, as the gelato and coffee melted together they created the perfect sweet-coffee soup. We liked the Stracciatella, which is vanilla with streaks of real chocolate. The Almond-Rum was also nice.
