The cart outside Cafe Reggio in the heart of Greenwich Village may not have the best gelato in the neighborhood, but for $2 a scoop we’re not complaining. For a mere $3, you can get two flavors in a medium cup, which is a healthy serving and would easily satisfy two people.

The friendly staff gives lots of samples so you can find the one you like best (we liked the strawberry sorbet and coconut).

The cart didn’t keep the gelato at the right temperature, so it was melting before it got in the cup. If you’re looking for authentic or artisanal gelato, keep walking. But for a cheap treat, this hits the spot.
