Leave it to the French to turn ice cream into a work of art. At Amorino, a Paris-based gelateria that just opened it’s first U.S. store in Greenwich Village, every cone is sculpted into an ice cream flower.

But don’t think that Amorino is just a pretty face. The gelato is amazing. The Nutella was among the most creamy ice creams we have ever tasted (and we have tasted a lot). The Walnut had real, whole walnuts inside and left us clawing for every last drip in the cone.

We should have taken more time to savor this cone, but frankly, we just got swept away.

Adding to the intrigue, they will put as many flavors in a cone or cup as you like. That’s right, unlimited flavors. This is a concept we hope will spread around!

So how do they make those fancy edible flowers? It’s pretty cool to see. They start by filling the cone with a mound of ice cream that sticks up to form the center. Then each petal is attached seamlessly to the outside. They make it look so easy.
